ISIS: Inside the Army of Terror

On Wednesday, April 8th, IPI hosted a Distinguished Author Series event, featuring Michael Weiss, co-author with Hassan Hassan of ISIS: Inside the Army of Terror.

I'm very glad that this talk was made available for people who weren't in attendance. These are things far more people need to be discussing and looking into for themselves. I hope they fix that mic for the next speaker, heh.

I am about a third of the way through his and Hassan's book and it is a must read for those interested in this area of the world. It's basically a history of jihadism; the Iraq War; and also discusses in minute detail the rise of ISIS and the implications for the world that we will probably be dealing with for the rest of of our lives. This is an important book. Great work Weiss and Hassan.

This man has a deeper understanding of whats going on in Iraq and Syria than the US policy makers that made blunders in iraq and gave birth to ISIS. Understanding these subtleties is extremely important to stop the carnage around the world and find ways for the west to coexist with islam

he employees second hand accounts, some personal conservation, with an organized presentation, but he seems to miss the contextual daily brutally of life in the middle east
I don't if he concludes that governance of the middle east is a lost cause, but it is, the sooner they're put out of their misery the better. I hate knowing my taxes are used to enable, these government.

Very informative. Americas geopolitical actions in one theatre can seriously effect the outcome in another e.g. Iraqi Sunni's perceptions of the American lead Iranian nuclear deal. Donald Rumsfeld said years ago when dealing with Saddam, some times you have to get your hands dirty to do a dirty job. Well, you reap what you sow.
