Stolen Revolution: inside the Free Syrian Army

How has the moderate and democratic Syrian revolution been taken over by Jihadists? Paul Moreira meets with a group of fighters from the Free Syrian Army, whom he previously filmed in 2011, to answer this question. This group of friends come from a region close to Edlib, and were rallied together by Jamal Maarouf, also featured in the documentary. They have all left the country. Now, they speak out on how extremists have hijacked their revolution, little by little.

The Syrian revolution rose against the criminal regime that killed, destroyed, plundered, and stole. The revolution was against the injustice faced by the free Syrian people. When the revolution began in 2011, I was 11 years old, and I vividly remember the devastation and destruction left by the ousted regime against its own people. By 2013, I had grown up and began fighting alongside the Free Syrian Army, defending our land, honor, and dignity. At the end of 2014, I was shot, and the injury resulted in quadriplegia. To this day, I have not been able to receive treatment, and there has been no improvement in my condition at all, except that God has blessed me with the ability to move my hands. I cannot describe the joy I felt when the criminal Assad regime fell, compensating for the harsh days I endured with my family in displacement camps. Now, we have triumphed. Years of struggle have produced hope despite the wounds. Here is Syria.
