It is called the "Schmalkaldische Bund" in Southern Thuringia (Thüringen). It was the first time the Elites went full with the public protesting. It was also the time of the highest count of witch burning and accusations on basis of religion. Wich made no sense, after everybody read the newly translated version of the Martin Luther bible. There was no mystery around the teachings of the bible for the society, and they recognized that the church made alot up and then tried to cover it up. Burned the printed books and tried to kill Martin Luther, the monk, the translater.

Catholicism incorporated many pre-Christian Roman (and even Indo-European ) creeds and rituals, whereas Protestantism is qua its " Sola Scriptura " more a Jewish approach to Christianity.

I have never heard anybody explain that difference so succinctly or so eloquently in all my life!!! I daresay that your explanation and definitions would put most parochial (meaning U.S. Catholic school) teachers in the United States to shame!!!

Having had a very religious education (from a Protestant school that exec had its own chapel, but from a 'mixed marriage' religiously, I can't believe that I'd never realised this before 😂
