Her death actually surprised me. Usually in horror, it’s the female lead that usually survives

To the sharks credit, it wasted nothing

Fun fact: in the original ending, Susan was actually supposed to survive. There is even a photo showing her surviving at the end of the film. However, the test audience was not a fan of it because they deemed her to be much of a villain to survive, so the directors had to rework the shoot and kill her off. It was definitely a twist that I did not see coming as a kid because usually in films like these, at least one female character survives or is the final survivor. It definitely broke a trope that has existed in horror films for some time now.

Bitten in half and eaten! The brutality traumatised me as a kid, it gave me the creeps since she looked conscious after being bitten in half, I wondered if she was still alive when she was swallowed… Also I always rooted for Susan I don’t care if people hate her.

The first time I watched as a child, i was chocked, because it was the very first time I saw a pretty woman brutally get in pieces in a movie, no drama, just brutal and raw death.

Her death made me so mad when I first watched it back in the day.

I love the way it sort of accidentally spat her out and then swallowed her again. Well thats certainly the end of her best child bearing years. Game over lady!

It's the old Frankenstein circle. Mad scientist creates monster, monster kills mad scientist. And honestly, if you add up her breaking the rules, lack of remorse for the team, her own personal agenda, how she used everyone including Carter, it all adds up to her getting hers in the end. Yes, she had good intentions. But what she did was unforgivable.

I know many people considered Susan to be annoying, which I kind of understand, but I still found her death to be really tragic. She lost her facility, all of her research (right before her great breakthrough even) and in the end, her life. Talk about having a shitty day at work!

If i made horror films I'd be totally against the final girl trope. Glad this film did that somewhat

I think the best scene was when Sam Jackson’s character died

Anyone else noticed at 0:05 when Susan gives the cut cue like okay CUT BEFORE THIS SHARK KILLS ME OFF! 😅😂

i heard that test audience didn't like that she survived because they thought of her as the bad guy scientist so they killed her off in the final cut.
i hated that she died, i always thought that Franklin (Samuel L Jackson) and the corporation as the bad guys, telling the scientist to rush the project while it's not ready, or else like Susan said "if we don't pull off that test tomorrow, we're all on the street"

She did not have to jump in the water she could have just stuck her hand in the water 😂

I had hoped Susan was going to survive in the end and kiss Carter like in every monster film

In a way, she's a villain that was meant to be killed.
