And Patton Oswalt confirmed that Jon Favreau told him this is why the show starts that way!

Parks and rec will always be one of my favorites

Ironic, since the Parks and Rec bit was a reference to the SW Legends story, that also describes it the same way lol

hes not claiming credit for the idea, but the exact choreography of the moment. pan down from the twin suns of tattooine, thats what he meant.

It’s about the timing and pacing of the scene, matching up with how his retelling was not him creating an event

It's from the comics, they just filmed to the rhythm of Patton Oswalt's speech.

He got out of the sarlacc just to find out Disney gave his whole character to another Mandalorian…😂😂😂

Except this already happened in the comic books that came out in the '90s.

If you haven't yet, you should watch the uncut filibuster scene. It is a wild ride

There was a Star Wars novel that told his story and how he survived. I believe his P & R character is quoting from that novel and the Boba Fett tv show was a direct recreation of the book. However, the book explores his time inside of the sand creature where he was supposed to be digested over a millennia in which he is against the …”wall” so to speak inside the creature and somehow connected to the creature telepathically so they can speak. Only by using part of his suit was he able to remote control drive his vehicle over to him where he turned on the burners of his ships engines directly above the creature and threaten him with death was he allowed to leave and crawl out the way he did.

For all the people mentioning that it was in the eu, Apparently Jon Favreau indicated that his inspiration was parks and rec. So it doesn't matter what was in the comics of those were not the inspiration

In the 1976-1985 comics, he crashed a small sandcrawler into it. And that... was it.

That's actually really cool. It's fun things like this that make you appreciate writers.

Was it "taken" from parks and rec or was this part of a previously written script/story?

I mean that may be the inspiration, but the expanded universe had a very similar scene in a book written 20 years before parks and rec's first episode.

Original sarlac pit is about 10 miles west of Yuma, AZ in the Imperial Sand Dunes.

Parks and recreation was such a pleasant surprise for me, I found the series through YouTube shorts, years after it ended, and it was like finding gold. Highly highly recommended it.
