“Because, Grogu, a short time for you is a lifetime for someone else”
These are the wisest words Luke could have imparted to Grogu. It reflects the tragic reality of what will be Grogu’s path. In the end, Grogu will have to learn the hard way to let go of attachment, because enduring such a long life following your attachments would be utterly painful and Luke knew that. Amazing writing.

Imagine prime Grogu, mid to late 400s, 3'7", 45 lbs, pulling up to a fight by way of jetpack, decked out in a full suit of beskar, firing off whistling birds, dual wielding Dark Saber and the late great Grand Master Yoda's blade. He would be unstoppable.

I loved Luke in this. He was so awesome. Nothing was about himself. He understood that Grogu desperately loved his Mandalorian dad and gave him a fair choice and never ridiculed him or treated them poorly for his choice. He was such a great teacher.

I think him saying “A short time for you, is a life time for someone else” shows that it’s okay for him to be with the mando for now. Heck, to me it sounds like luke wanted grogu to know, he will live a long life so he will have time to become a Jedi.

He's thinking, "I'll be back for that saber." 😄

Luke was a shining example of why that old Jedi way wasn't true. He had friends, a sister, attachments and he rejected the dark side's temptation.

Grogu was probably thinking "I rather spend a short time with my father than my whole life time without seen him again"

Grogu has his eyes set on the Mando’s darksaber. Doesn’t need Yoda’s hand-me-down.

Probably a good thing that Grogu didn’t stay, we all know how Luke’s school went…..😓😱

Luke showing Grogu a lightsaber and having him choose his life path is like a divorced cop showing his 3-year-old son a gun and saying “decide whether you want to be a cop or go live with your mom”

Grogu must have felt very loved from seeing that chain mail from Mando. To think before this scene they missed each other because Mando saw Grogu at the top of hill and Grogu saw him leave in his Naboo fighter ship.

I think this was a compassionate thing for Luke to do. As Yoda himself said “A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind.” Luke knew Grogu’s heart wasn’t in it and that he couldn’t bear to be away from his Father 💔

At least Grogu was given a choice. That's more then most younglings got.

Except legends Luke wouldn’t give him this choice. One of the major flaws of the jedi was forbidding attachments, love is one of the strongest powers the force can offer.
Legends Luke knew this as he himself took a wife in an ex sith Assassin Mara Jade.
He would have given him both, to love is to serve.

I noticed how Luke said that Grogu would be "giving in to attachment to those you love." He makes a distinction between love and attachment. Attachment is selfish, greedy and drives you to do unseemly things to hold on to the things or people that you ultimately want to possess. In the case of Anakin, his love for Padme wasnt the problem, but it was his selfish desire to possess her and control destiny by making a deal with the devil that ultimately drove him down the dark path. True love, which is encouraged by the Jedi (Anakin talks to Padme about this in AOTC) is selfless and you understand that even though you have intense feelings for someone, their destiny is not yours to control, and it is hard to accept, but whether they be in your life or out, dead or alive, its not up to you to try and control other people or destiny itself. I think that is the principle behind the "no attachment" rule. Just something cool I noticed.

I love that Luke gave him an option instead of forcing him

What they did right as far as Luke establishing a new Jedi order was he gave Grogu the choice. The old ways did not. They in essence kidnapped and/or didn’t reveal the full problems with becoming a Jedi. Qui Gon did for anakin but not nearly as much as he could have. Luke making the decision to give a choice is what distinguished him from the previous order. He saw what attachment did and how powerful it could be, even in himself. We need a Grand Master Skywalker Jedi Academy series to see exactly what we know Luke was capable of
