World Worm Charming Championships takes place in England

An unusual tradition called The World Worm Charming Championships was completed on Saturday in the UK to lure worms from the ground.

Teams have 30 minutes to coax as many worms as possible to the surface of a 3 x 3-metre plot of land in Willaston, Cheshire.

This year hard ground made for tough conditions with the winner managing to charm a mere 11 worms.

The world record of 567 worms was set by 10-year-old Sophie Smith in 2009.
