One single word describes the relationship between Portugal and Spain: ALJUBARROTA.
6 thousand Portuguese warriors could stop an Spanish invasion and defeat 30 thousand soldiers of Spain and France, in 1385.

Portugal and Spain are like two siblings with this big rivalry, but nevertheless they love each other. Portugal however has this necessity to stand out from Spain, as Spain spent centuries trying to annex Portugal, while the latter fought to remain independant. In fact, because Portugal would usually kick Spain's ass in most of the battles they engaged, the only way Spain managed to conquer Portugal (but only for 60 years) was through matrimonial alliances that resulted in disputes for the crown when Portugal entered in a situation where there was no heir.

As a Portuguese person I can tell you, yes, we do love the ocean and being on the water. If one day we find that the first Portuguese came from Atlantida I wouldn't be surprised lol. There is something about the sea that pull us on to it.

I would like to add that Portugal was the first to introduce the sweet orange trees in Europe, brought from China. In some countries (e.g., Romania, Greek, Arab countries, ) the fruit is named as a variation of the "Portugal" word

That zipline comes from Spain to Portugal. So people jump into the line at 11AM in Spain and land in Portugal at 10:01 AM. That's coming back in time. 😂
Portuguese is the 5th most spoken language in the world.
The biggest waves are in Praia do Norte, Peniche. (Edit: Praia do Norte is in Nazaré, not Peniche)
The question with Olivença as to do with the fact that Spain, allied with France during the Napoleonic Invasions (early 1800's), ocupied that town. When the war ended, Spain signed a treaty agreeing to return Olivença, but never did it. No one wants a war now, but we don't forget...

Just a simple fact, the word "tea" comes from the Portuguese tea boxes with TEA stamped, transported to UK.
It means: Transportes de Ervas Aromáticas :)

Dear TK Top Travel, the country is fully open again now that we have over 95 % of the population is vaccinated. Bar´s, night clubs, music concerts etc. are fully open.
Get on a plane and come visit us and join the exponentially growing number of fellow U.S. Citizens that have chosen Portugal to emigrate to.
ps: J.K. Rowling lived in Porto Portugal she took inspiration based in that library for the harry potter books. Our college students traditional robes also inspired Hogwarts robes and many many other things in the books came from Portugal.

Every time Spain try to invade Portugal, they always lost and Spain tried many times. Even after ww1, when there civil war ended, they tried to make a new constitution with Portugal joining Spain, whit out asking Portugal first.
Portugal said F... No!!
