Pocahontas video review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow video review of Pocahontas for the Game Boy developed by Tiertex Design Studios and published by Black Pearl Software.

Based on Disney’s 1995 animated film, Pocahontas is a puzzle-tinged platformer. Players swap between controlling Pocahontas herself and her raccoon pal Meeko, each helping the other to navigate the levels. The game also features the hit song “Colors of the Wind” from the film, one of the most notable songs from Disney’s 1990s films. Climb trees, cross rivers and save animals to gain special abilities. Just watch out for the men of the Virginia Company! Pocahontas is a single-player game on the original Game Boy.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Pocahontas for the Game Boy and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

I love how instead of just falling, the raccoon just kinds of glides.

That song was so bad it's good. Worth the trouble on my ears for the creativity.

marvelous intro! I don't know why people complain about how you review. it's a different style than others and frankly it's refreshing and entertaining to boot

Bra-fucking-vo Derek! You could not sing that incredible song any better. Reminds me of Whitney Houston.

Pocahontas was one of the 5 VHS tapes we had growing up, so even though the movie is kinda meh by Disney standards, I saw it several times. Because of that, I find this review (especially the intro song) to be exceptionally hilarious. Love it.

The Genesis version is actually pretty awesome. Plays a lot like Prince of Persia. I highly recommend picking it up if you come across it.

Pocahontas was also released on the Genesis. There was a Super Nintendo version planned, but it was never released.

Two game developers gave me their source code for two versions. The Game Boy/Super Game Boy sound files and the unreleased SNES game sound work files too.

Wow, it seems that my opinion contradicts everyone else's. I hate the Mulan game, right? Well, I find Pocahontas to be quite similar in graphics, controls and style. However, it's NOT AS BAD. Well, that's how I find it. My personal favourite Disney GB/GBC game is definitely Toy Story 2, with it's wonderful graphics, exciting and movie-following gameplay and phenomenal music.
