You said it perfectly near the start: the mantra of a boomer is "A house is an investment".

Is it? Are the homes that were built near a snall creek as our ancestors farmed, traded, prayed, lived and died together - where they juat thinking about the roght opportunity to sell it to a prospective buyer?

Were the homes that were destroyed in wars, bombings, invasions etc. all just seen as some turbulence in the housing market?

All the memories that go into a home, memories the boomer so loves to talk about when they reminisce about the past, are they just another commodity to be traded at the end of the day?

A boomer will not flinch if rhey are offered just above market value to have their house bought out by the authorities to turn it into asylum seeker housing, or for low-income junkies to move in. Never mind the community, the rest of the family, the country; "f*ck you, got mine"- the epitaph of the boomer!

"You young people have a limited historical perspective."
*Starts his timeframe at 1940*

I don't know whether Zoomer ahistoricity or Boomer Truth is worse.

What Jeff has failed to factor in, is the inmigrants will just take his home.

It's like someone from Weimar Germany explaining why "it's actually good that a loaf of bread costs 1, 000, 000 marks"

It's should've gone: birthrates drop, houses down, wages up, birthrates hopefully somewhat recover, new equilibrium. But instead: immigration and financial shenanigans

Meanwhile the people who make bank in the housing market will tell you that the worst think that can happen to them is a house that does not sell quickly.

A property is only an investment if you flip it as soon as possible on the market, or you rent it out long-term. Otherwise you are losing money on maintenance or other expenses like taxes.

Never heard of guy and now I despise him. He does have a point about buying an old home, but he's wrong about putting in a grand to get three back. He is also wrong about MUH BUILDING CODE. Fing Canadians.

A minute into the Reno guy talking and he is already wrong on basic statistics 😂

50% of first marriages end in divorce, 75% of which are initiated by women. Jeff advising young men to "partner up" as a financial strategy to buy property is like telling them to play Russian roulette with 3 bullets in the cylinder.

Real Wages were also growing from 1940 to 1970 thus shadowing rising house prices. There has been massive wage stagnation in blue collar and most white collar professions since 1971. Mostly due to globalism, high immigration, offshoring and outsourcing. This also explains why first time buyers are usually Double Income now vs mostly Single income before 1975

around the 19min mark perfectly epitomizes why people hate boomers "Sucks for YOU but not for ME! Time for another cruise!"

He doesn't look at the relationship between medium earnings and medium house price. My wife and I both have professional jobs and we can only look to buy ex-council or farm worker houses and that is still only possible with our parents help!
