World Dive-Bomb championship makes big splash

Geronimo! Dozens plunged, splashed and eventually ached their way through the World Dive-Bomb championship on July 27 in the southern German city of Sindelfingen.

During the three-day annual competition, a total of 65 participants from five European countries showed off their finest dives.

Judges score based on freestyle acrobatic tricks, such as the number of somersaults and twists in the air when springing from diving boards as high as 10 meters, and how they hit the water - the bigger splash the better.

The competition is freestyle, meaning divers can be creative in the movements they carry out, choosing their own elements to impress the judges and the audience.
