CBS News political panel on what voters can expect as GOP race for president intensifies

Campaign 2024 got down to business in Iowa this weekend as most of the declared or potential Republican candidates visited the early nominating state. Notably absent was the GOP front-runner, former President Donald Trump, who was off the trail this weekend. CBS News political correspondent Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS News senior White House and political correspondent Ed O'Keefe and CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa joined "Face the Nation" to discuss.

Republican presidential hopeful, Ramalama Dingdong, wants to raise the voting age to 25, a popular position for MAGAs. They know that most young people are asking for a fairer playing field and therefore typically vote Democratic.

It could be twenty candidates running in the GOP primaries, saying a hundred different things.
But underneath all the masks is the same one goal: to protect the wealthy and big business.
Everything else they discuss is merely crumbs tossed about so they can get enough votes to accomplish that prime directive.

The idea that a supposed political analyst “doesn’t know” whether Trump will support another nominee is laughable. He’s said in the past that he’d run 3rd party. That doesn’t sound like supporting the nominee to me. He didn’t even turn up to Bidens inauguration. He’d throw his toys out of the pram like he always has.

I support Biden but l believe he made a long-term strategic mistake by not selecting Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan for the VP spot. As a female governor in charge of a needed Midwest swing state, she checks MORE boxes than Kamala.

Instead of only talking about politics and the political maneuvering, what about a few deep dive series runs into the topics. I understand it is a money issue, but we need some adults in the room.
If nothing else we need a way to LABEL news that follows journalism vs opinion. Have whatever opinions you want and voice them, but let’s stop masquerading opinions and propaganda as news.
