Stop Telling Me To Run Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC - Jody Bruchon Tech

Please just stop telling me to install Windows 10 ErectNerdDingus Edition. You don't take into account anything about the machines I'm working on or the circumstances you know nothing about. Advice given without proper context informing it is often worse than useless. Without a license it's also technically illegal, though I obviously don't care about that and definitely wouldn't tell people to go to massgrave dot dev to get MAS_AIO and do such a thing with free activation.

I wonder what's this guy opinion when you actually have a Windows 10 LTSC where you paid using your own money for a legit license, following the logic of this guy video it wouldn't exist because he would think it was pirated either way...

Why I use LTSC:
1. Nothing extra is pre-installed by default, it's up to me to choose what and how I want it back. I'm not going to remove a bunch of junk.
2. Most importantly, there are no notifications prompting me to upgrade to Windows 11, no annoying notices in the update center.
3. no upgrade to the cheesy modern UI in settings, the about computer menu, and the account login section.
4. No imposition of online account, OneDrive, Office 365.
5. More fine-tuning on telemetry management.
6. Long-term support.
Fewer processes and more system performance.
I believe this is reasonable enough.
Of the minuses in over 2 years of use:
1. Lack of some video codecs needed for some applications - solved by installing these codecs.
2. DolbyDecMFT is cut out by default. It is solved in 2 minutes.
Basically that's all, you may remember the store, but it can be restored in a couple of minutes if necessary.
I'll have to make a video about it sometime.

Jody, I've got a recommendation. You need to run... No, that's it. just run. They're after you, Jody!

Could not agree more. Installing Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC is like an average person buying a Ferrari with 200, 000 miles. Its not an actual solution to anything and will only make life harder for 99% of users.

IoT stands for "Internet of Things", which is for industrial applications. The Enterprise LTSC version is for large businesses, not home users. I myself do run Windows 10 Pro because I have an actual server running a NOS (Network Operating System) with several computers connected to it, along with printers and such.

Oh no it's illegal, not the poor multi-billion dollar corporation. You wouldn't steal a car would you?!?!

I installed Windows 11 (instead of 10) IoT Enterprise LTSC to receive updates without breaking my system on unsupported hardware, and yes, it's 24H2, so I don't need to worry about a piece of software not meeting the latest version of Windows. I'm also a pirate, though. Updates take under 5-10 minutes to complete. I think the same edition, but for Windows 10, could get a new version if possible. I'm not an expert at this, so I wanna know if it's gonna happen or not.

i dont care about updates. in fact i can use Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 if i had hardware for them

Windows 10 LTSC is great if you can get through the limitations, but I've moved on to Linux Mint so I don't care much about Windows anymore.

The reason I like 10 LTSC is simply because it's clean and most bloatware is gone.

Super well said, everything, especially the point about updates. You are my twin in soul Jody ❤

Having a comment becoming the background to a video must be an achievement somehow

Please give me an example of the software that needs 22H2 (That I can download), I genuinely can't find one and I need it as my test case since I made a bastardized 22H2 LTSC for myself with nothing to test if I was succesful.
But what am I gaining from it? Updates until 2032, No bloatware, much less ads, (internet explorer if I wanted it), no AI invasion. Its basically Windows 7 but modern and thats why I have been using it since 2016. But yeah the reason I recommended it because of the fact they need updates on hardware Windows 11 isn't going to support.

And in case your wondering since I reverse engineered the 22H2 update I can definitively tell you that all it does is change multiple version ID's in the windows registery and it drops a reg key signalling to Windows that the 22H2 features can be enabled (Assuming your on LTSC 21H2 not an old one). Everything else it does is included in the monthly updates and also present on a fully updated LTSC 21H2. Now this is something I have not given to others, but its something I have in my bagpack should I need it to unblock software.

Greatly appreciate the introspection. When you push advanced solutions on low-tech individuals, you (royal you, ) are as Microsoft for... I think every version since Vista. (And likely several before that.)

Yes, you are selling/pushing/recommending a powerful tool; someone still has to *actively administrate it effectively*, or there was no point.

I'm not saying anything new; just raging in agreement at the screeching lunacy of the world we live in.

0:07 Is that a Motospeed keyboard. Looks exactly like mine right down to key layout. Got mine think in 2016. Still going.

I dual-boot Arch and Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC. BTW.

I thought one of the benefits of LTSC was the lack of app store bloat. It does break compatability for certain things.

Enterprise LTSC is easier to keep functional in the long term than any other edition of windows 10. You simply go to windows update and install the updates every few months. Meanwhile windows 10 home and pro will stop getting updates. I have never encountered a piece of software that doesn't work on LTSC 21h2 because it's "too old", can you name some?

Hey Jody, I hope you will recover your health soon, I will pray for you, God Bless! :)
Thanks for explaining why people shouldn't update windows, glad to know that it can break system, so I can prevent it by not installing updates!
Need to mention that I'm going to stay on windows 10 pro as long as I can, I'm not going to upgrade to win11 only cuz some people say so.
From what I know win11 is made on core from win10, so what is the point to upgrade to it? NONE, atleast for me for now.
Btw would be nice to see a video from you why NOT to upgrade to windows 11 :)

What am I supposed to do? 10 LTSC is the least bloated and least stressful version to deal with. Maybe I'm not doing important stuff but it hasn't given me a problem yet.

My other option is *shivers* learn Linux.
