Unmarked BWMs and Audis are easy to spot as the Plod drivers use their indicators.

How to identify an unmarked car: it's got two blokes who resemble cops in the front seats, and no one in the back.

I read the best comment on one of your videos on how to spot an unmarked car, simply look at the aerial/antenna and you will see there is an extra one for the tetra signals

How to spot an unmarked car... it has a sun strip and is in the UK. We all know the UK doesn't get enough sun to require a sun strip!

If an ice cream van, works truck or a JCB digger is trying to pull me over with blue lights, I ain't pulling over, just so you know 😂

Its easy, they are usually the ones with the blue flashing lights trailling in the rear view

I'll never forget the time Northumbria Police attempted to get me to 'race' them. I was driving and one of their unmarked cars pulled right up close to my rear. They then began swerving side to side and inching closer and further away - a deliberate attempt to spur me into a race. Of course I didn't react (why would I) and after 20 seconds they then overtook slowly while staring at me - both in traffic police uniform.
Regardless, as has been mentioned by others: The police drive in a particular way and it stands out a mile.

A friend of mine used to be a traffic warden. He once recognised a covert surveillance car by its registration number, parked on a double yellow line. He radioed into the police station and asked if they could be told to move to the other side of the street as it was getting a bit embarrassing that he couldn't book them. He added, "and tell them they don't look like a courting couple when he's in the front and she's in the back."

How am I supposed to watch the video with my phone down

My dad loves his audi because people think he's and undercover and they all wear the same, " dad outfit". Sometimes we grab our seat belts pretending it's radios and the car in front starts driving like it's their final exam😂

Absence of a dealer sticker in the back window used to be a clue.

Unmarked Volvo estate in Lake District a couple of years ago had bike carrier and bikes on the roof, blended in well.

a way to spot a police car unmarked or not is they are always washed and clean

Most police forces maintain the fleet at specific centralised depots, anyone with a mild curiosity will see marked and unmarked units transported there for regular maintenance. I'm sure the criminals have spotters or just covert cameras posted nearby, taking all the number plates.

Unmarked police units are easy to spot here in New Zealand, the vehicle's to look out for over here are Skoda Superb's, Holden Commodore's & Equinox's, Toyota Hilux's & Camry's. The biggest giveaway are the extra antennas on the roof, there's also lights in the grille & on the dash.

With Bluetooth which most cars must have now, I'm surprised people still need to hold a phone to make a call or receive one

Unmarked cars usually drive TOO sensibly. Way too respectful of the speed limit changes, strictly always AT the speed limit (verified by GPS), never in a rush anywhere (unless they have their lights on!) so they feel a bit off too. Also, some have darker window tint I found on the rear windows, and the bumpers look a bit "odd" especially if you're used to seeing a particular model of car and then see an unmarked, you don't know what it is, but your subconcious will know and spot the extra lights and stuff. I know all of this because I pay attention to the road and spot all these details :D

My local cop shop runs a few unmarked Leon Cupra Estates, not a common car. I have one too. Many other motorists think I'm in an unmarked cop car when i'm not 😂😂

this was going back to late 2000's when cop cars were either a Volvo T5 estate or a BMW, but, the stealthiest unmarked I've ever seen (or not seen as it happened) was a rough looking, several years old, boring grey, Audi a4 Avant, 3.0 v6 tdi in SE trim, literally no sign of any extra lighting, antennas, mirrors or anything on the dash.
It was a Sunday morning with absolutely nothing on the M1 (somewhere around chesterfield/Mansfield) apart from this Audi. I took a good look at it as I past at 85mph, The car nerd in me was like "wow that's a rare engine choice for an A4".. A minute later this thing is storming up behind me and then the lights came on. Couldn't believe it, I was utterly oblivious to it being a cop car.

Speaking to the copper whilst being issued my points and fine, I said, "I bet you get people all day long in this don't you?" and he smiled and said "yep, nobody sees it, its like the grey man of cars". Nice bloke, chatted about it for a bit, and lesson was learnt... they can be in all sorts and they are not all easy to spot.
Ben, if you are reading this, I wonder if you know anyone who was working in that area, around that time and can remember that car? The 3.0 v6 tdi was super rare in an A4, even more rare with a manual gearbox so someone will defo remember it
