How to Install Honeywell Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Thermostat w/without C Wire!

How to install Honeywell T5 Wi-Fi Thermostat without a common C wire. In this video, I show you how to get around the 5 wire problem when you only have 4 wires going into your current thermostat.

Set your temperature and mode by talking to Alexa.

AFTER POSTING THIS VIDEO I HAVE REALIZED THAT THE SECOND METHOD BY USING A JUMP WIRE DOES NOT WORK. SEE COMMENTS FOR A WORKAROUND. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!

1. Install new HVAC wire to Thermostat and HVAC control board
2. Wire diagram to use the existing 4 wire set up with a bypass jump wire.

Older homes usually only have 4 wires controlling the thermostat without any power coming from a C wire, however, you need 5 wires with the Lyric T-5 Wi-Fi Thermostat with a C wire. The 5th wire (C wire) powers the device and is necessary for the thermostat to work.

I decided to make this video as it took me a while to figure out how to make my wireless thermostat work. I hope this helps!

There are 2 methods described in this video. The first method works just fine but the second method described with a jumper wire does not work! If you look farther down in the comments one user describes alternatives when using a jumper wire :)

Doesn't Honeywell offer a free c wire adapter when you buy their thermostats? They used to at least. There was a mail in offer in the manual

My heating and A/C units are in different locations. Which unit would have the "C" terminal to supply the 24V? ALso, because of 2 different units, how do i know whci are the W, G, R and yellow connections at the unit end?

I found my unused blue wire and connected it to my common. Tried using that C wire adapter first, scrapped it.
