Stone Wall Shield is the best build in GMGOW. You get heavily punished mid game and missing parries on Yellow Attacks can lead to guaranteed hits when dealing with mobs.

I dunno if its a build thats used by others but you can animation cancel the axe rake ability with the dodge x1 and if you use the crit chance arms and belt plus the heal chance chest plus a sonic arrow status buffed support you can actually bombard your target relentlessly since the rake hits multiple times and if they have sonic blight they blow up again and also hit those around them. And the "crit" explosions count as another hit and since they are taking so much damage even those with high poise and shields will still get caught up.
Also, the rake ability can be used by literally just holding the R1 button down and pressing dodge button as soon as Kratos goes to rake forward. You dont have an awkward swing in the middle of the combo.

I’m using the full stun armor right now but I’m not far into the game at all yet. I’m still just running around the wetlands enjoying myself. My friend and I are playing together and we are farther into the game but we are still early. I’m really liking this God of war game. I like it more than the 2018 game which I’m glad about cause for Horizon I didn’t like forbidden west anywhere near as much as the zero dawn game.

Honestly this build is better than the dlc armor if you ask me. I wouldn't necessarily buy deluxe if the armor is your reason. But it is a good armor so up to you, you do get it really early
