my son Jesse brought me this burl from our land up in the Adirondacks so I thought I would turn a living edge bowl from it . it was tough going but I got it

Got to use a lathe in Mr. Acquillano’s shop class at Maple Hill High School in Castleton NY in the late 60’s. Made a gun rack as my first class project. Brought a Marlin .22LR to school on the bus and gave a presentation in his class on gun safety. Think that would happen nowadays? Awesome work with the wood!

Cool Dan, must have strong hands and arms to do it, me the tool would be in the ceiling, ha ha but it's a nice bowl hope the misses likes it.

I see what you mean about the grain being all over the place, but what a wonderful creation.
Presumably when the oil has dried in you then add a wax treatment of some sort? Or do you just leave it with the oiled finish? Beautiful work, and I guess if it moved it would still be beautiful.
