A handwritten note and a seemingly unbreakable bond. But did Christine McVie feel like she came in second to Stevie Nicks' fame?

I can easily state losing Christine McVie is like when Queen lost Freddie, THAT'S how important Christine is to Fleetwood Mac. Respectively she will be missed by millions of her loving fans and friends. Thank You Christine McVie, your music and brilliance shall endure forever !!!!

You are MY hero Christine. Your talent was shining through in Fleetwood Mac long before 1975 and continued throughout. You are and will be sorely missed.

Highly creative and also admirably modest Lady. "Songbird" is one song that seems to define the concept of love better than any poem.

You are right, completely different singers, Christine and Stevie. Both are magically, gifted singers and songwriters. You will be missed Christine McVie 💔🥺

“Hold me” was always my favorite by her. Thanks to her for all the good music and playing a part of the soundtrack of my life.

I have to admit that Stevie initially drew me in to Fleetwood Mac fandom over 40 years ago, but I quickly grew to love Christine's honeyed dulcet timbre, her distinctive rhythmic keyboard style and those amazing melodies. I remember the first time I watched Christine in concert - directly at eye level from the second row in 1997. I was truly starstruck only by Christine, which is really saying something in a band fronted by Stevie and Lindsey. It's almost like she was royalty. Just a solid, gracious, talented musician who just seemed too regal for us commoners. I saw Christine many times after her re-emergence and I still had those butterflies in my stomach while in her presence each and every time. I've been in denial for the past day but I finally came to terms and had a good cry while watching a video of her performing "Songbird." She is the first of my true idols to pass and it is a sad reminder that all of this - this life, this joy, this pain, this body - is ephemeral and that the cruel march of time goes only in one direction. It's like I blinked and 41 years of my life, with Christine and Fleetwood Mac as the soundtrack, just flashed by. I knew the day would come eventually... but at the same time I thought they were all immortal. It's been such a long, satisfying run and Christine, my love, thank you for spending time with us and sharing your gifts with the world.

R.I.P., Christine McVie. As an accomplished accordion player, I always admired your out of this world musical gifts. Be it on piano, accordion or whatever keyboards you were playing your natural talent always rose above most anyone around you. Even tambourine and maracas, you were the Queen.
Vocal and instrumental talents that were not just the level of many others in your industry, you had the polished talents and abilities of one who had studied and learned music as her craft. Perhaps in the background more often but with the obvious lack of need to be the star of the show. For anyone who knows music, Christine was the star of the women, and enjoying playing her parts to perfection was all she needed. Her ability to sing such exquisite harmonies, again the best part of their songs.
May all your family, loved ones, friends and bandmates {the later 2 being 1 and the same} grieve as you need to ... recollect the good times you were lucky to have with her and take from her all the lessons her wisdom brought you.
One of the most beautiful voices ever, one of the most beautiful and classy women ever. You will never be forgotten and I for one, will miss you forever. Fleetwood Mac is no longer. At least I have your music. 🧡🌹

I am deeply saddened to hear the loss of Christine McVie. The “Songbird” doves are flying in heaven. May God rest her soul. 🙏🏽

Christine McVie did seem to take a back seat in FMC when Stevie and Lyndsey hopped on board. But that event actually pushed them to Rock Star status. Christine gave Stevie her piano when she retired. Now that's love. She was a humble but multitalented musician. RIP.

I have been a huge Fleetwood Mac fan for 40 + yrs. I love all the band members. But love Christine. My husband and I have been married for 10yrs. One of " our songs" since we met 14 yrs ago.... is Songbird. We had it played at our wedding. And have sung the chorus to each other almost daily since we've been together. We both cried and cried when we heard about Christine's passing.. We had the opportunity to go to 2 concerts around 2013 and 2014. So very lucky to have seen her perform. A sweet, classy "Songbird" Christine. May you rest in peace dear lady.

I don't even know where to begin with this
most of us grew up listening to fleetwood mack.!
i cant even count how many fleetwood mac
concerts ive been to in my life .
forsure....
the 70s was the best decade to be alive in...
we were kids!!
we were young
an wild,
having a blast !
an made some good friends along the way too....
i say this...
because i find myself 54 yrs old today !
and feeling fine
but also sad...
very sad.
this was such bad news ...
i loved this lady and the songs she wrote
tell me lies,
was my favorite by her.
but hey guys..
just another reminder that we ourselves are gettin old.

i guess what they say is true....
your gonna die and there's nothin u can do about it.
apart of life i guess.
wow

Wow.
i hope they know its time to retire now.
cuz with out christine...
and lindsey an stevie barley speaking.
its an end to an era.
well all good things must come to an end...
right.
Stevie may go on with her solo career but she knows it will never be the same again.
its godda be sad for her remembering what it was an how close they all use to be.
and how things are now.

It could've never been Fleetwood Mac without her. Our generation has lost some legends and it makes me feel life is going by too fast. I never got to see her but still listen today💔😢♥️

Damn I’m just so fucking sad. Whereas Stevie had this bluesy ferocity and fire, Christine always had a delicacy to her voice that felt vulnerable and wistful. And man I loved it so much. Thank you Christine, I will miss you dearly.
