From France, I would like to thank you so much for your advices.
We have adopted a half breed puppy and your videos are so helpful.
It’s a French dog trainer who shared your channel❤

Thanks so much! I have 2 husky rescues, and I used so many of your tactics in training. I took your advice about building a strong collaborative relationship based on science, not old ideas. One of the first things we worked on was off and leave it, based on your advice, now they know with just a look if they shouldn't do something. At first it was frustrating of course, but every minute of training and time and investing in a collaborative relationship has been worth it. And the older dog helped model and teach the scared and abused puppy rescue when we got her. Thanks so much. You've really helped our family so much❤

I'm not understanding the negative comments here. I have a 17 month old Border Collie, had her from 8 weeks, and everything I've tried from watching Zak works. Positive reinforcement is genuinely the way forwards with my dog, with both tricks and general life.

Keep smashing it Zak! ✌️💕

A dog needs to know "no". And he needs to know that it means "stop THIS SECOND". Why? Because when, not if, he finds himself in a situation that suddenly turns dangerous, you need to be able to get an instant reaction from him to keep him safe. There might not be time for him to look back at you and ponder if that treat in your hand is worth it when his life is suddenly on the line.
I don't understand why people act like their dog will turn into a pile of ashes if they tell them not to do something. I'd rather have a dog that understands when I tell him he messed up than a dead dog.
And why the need to use some sort of weird noise instead of "no"? It's all noise to the dog, he doesn't care if you say "nuh uh" or "no".

I started fostering 2 puppies, it has been chaos and I am feeling a little pressure that I should train them so they can be ready to get adopted, then I found your videos. Still a long way to go, but thank you so much!

I had a recent epiphany with my foster pup! He would get crazy when I was getting ready to take him for a walk-would bark, bite my shoes I was trying to put on, etc, etc. Then, I thought, "hey, he knows the command "place' so I tried that and it worked like a dream! Now he goes to his place, and waits calmly until I give him the free command. I was so excited to figure that out. It takes me a while, lol

I love most of what Zak puts out, but this was nonsense. Dogs need to know the word "no" and everything I saw in this video didn't teach that puppy to "not do" the things Zak didn't want him to do, it taught him that if he does those things he will get Zak's attention and get a reward for doing them. Sorry folks, positive training is good for many things, but not everything. Just like your kids, they need to learn the word no and they need to learn the punishment that comes if they ignore you. If you raise your kids, or your pets, that there is no punishment in life then they will walk all over dogs will do the same thing eventually.

Surprisingly, this is working with my strong-willed, 6 month old pup who is testing my patience daily. Thanks Zack!

I don’t know if I’m doing it right but we recently moved to Germany and my dog has become quite excited with the mass amount of bikes that pass us during our walks (always been a bit of a trigger for him, but it wasn’t a huge deal in Canada since we didn’t see many fast bikes in our neighborhood). I’ve been taking him during quieter bike hours and redirecting him to sit and wait when a biker passes by to redirect his attention (followed by a treat sporadically). It seems to be working as long as I see the early enough…. We can now walk by bikers without lunging after only 2 weeks!

For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

We’ve been using these methods, and it’s working. You have to be patient because it’s baby steps, but it works.

Thank you, Zac, for showing us some good ideas that actually look like real help. I've watched so many training videos that just show perfect puppies being perfect. Mine is not.

Yea he's still gonna go back to scatching the door and trying to get the dog to get food off the counter. There are the commands you can do besides no and it works after one time with my dog. A consistent voice command works well. Calling him just takes away his attention as you have other food. You are just teaching him to come NOT stop trying to get the bad behavior to stop.

Is this not positively reinforcing these behaviors I.e. following up the behavior with a positive result human attention or a toy. I don’t see how Shade is learning that these behaviors are bad, just that when does them he gets attention. I want to follow your method so I’m curious what you have to say.

I challenge you to try that with my dog. Come to Berlin. I pay your Ticket. You walk my dog for 45 minutes off-leash in the center of Berlin as I do every day. I stop calling you "Zak Brannigan George". I want to see your skills, because I believe you have not many. While your lack of skill is not the problem, your sendungsbewußtsein is.
