T-Minus 1 day until Simon starts a "Spacegraphics" channel...and I'm all for it!

To think that all of these crazy examples are in ONLY 5000 exoplanets, when you remember that there are more planets than stars in the universe.. just imagine what else is out there that we can't even fathom

Exoplanet researcher and Whistlerverse enthusiast here.

Really good episode, Simon & team. Written and presented really well.

One of the planets I'm currently researching, WASP-76b, is really interesting.
A hot Jupiter (~1.8Mjup, 2100C) where there is strong evidence for iron raining from the sky on the planet's night side. Iron that was vaporised in the upper atmosphere on the hotter dayside, condensing to molten iron on the cooler nightside and falling deep in to the atmosphere.

This planet also has winds in the region of 5km/s.

My research techniques can detect chemicals and simultaneously tell me how fast those chemicals are moving through its atmosphere.

I'm a simple man. I see the word "Exoplanets" and I click.

Edit: Need a video about protoplanets. I just learned about them.

Rogue planets have always fascinated me. What manner of thing can catapult something so large out of a solar system?

Fascinating video!!! The most interesting to me was rogue planets, it seems so alien to have a planet with no star, just cruising out there. If any life did manage to form, they would be so isolated that their experience in the universe would be wildly different from ours.

In case of earth like rogue planets, its perfectly plausible that hot core allows liquid water (and potential life) under the ice layer

This seems like it would've been a good Geographics video. Either way more Simon content lol.

My parents immigrated from an exoplanet when I was just 3 (earth) years old. I don’t remember the place, but they tell me that it used to rain white chocolate there. But because gravity was inverse, it used to fall up rather than down.

Please do more on this subject. It is seriously fascinating to learn about.

I like the jazz soundtrack on this video, volume leveling is really good, Simon knows exactly what he's doing and I really enjoy his content .
