In today's video I am showing you how do to an easy reverse seared Tri Tip! Now, Tri Tip is absolutely delicious, but it can be kind of hard for me to find in the midwest. I ordered this one from Wild Fork Foods, which I have linked below. Tri Tip grilling is easy, and reverse seared Tri Tip allows you to get an awesome smokey flavor and still get that delicious medium rare that I absolutely enjoy, but of course be sure to cook your food to your desired doneness and liking. What you enjoy is all that matters!

I started this Tri Tip off at 250º and let it smoke for about an hour, until it hit 120º. Then I got my Grill Grates up to 550º and seared the Tri Tip for 2 minutes per side, and got some decent grill marks in the process! If you have never had reversed seared Tri Tip, I highly recommend it! How do you like to cook your Tri Tip? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this video! If you did, be sure to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and RING THAT BELL!! As Always, I truly appreciate all your support!!

Thanks for sharing. I'll try this recipe for medium rare tritip this weekend. I've been using your videos to learn how to use my pellet smoker and my guest have loved it! Thank you for your straight forward guides, I'm learning alot.

I would like to find that grill marker grate and tool. Can you say where you got it?

Cub in Stillwater amazingly has tri-tip all the time. It’s choice but there pretty dang good. I’d have to disagree about cooking it like a brisket. I’ve done it several times and always a big hit. I’m doing 8 this weekend for my daughters graduation. It’s really about the same price as brisket and I won’t have to trim a couple pounds of fat off. Love tri-tip cooked like you did as well. Try it doing cheese steak sammies. That damn cut of meat is versatile, good.

That middle grate, did that come with your smoker?

I have to agree with you about cooking tri-tip like a brisket. I've tried it twice, comes out very tender but kind of dried out. I don't think tri-tip has enough intramuscular fat (like a brisket) to survive a low and slow cook. But, I see plenty of utube cooks doing it, and they like it, so ok. I wouldn't try to talk them out of what works for them. Thank you for your video.

Those sear marks look perfect! Steak looks juicy and tender. I've never had a tri-tip, what other cut of beef would you compare it to? Love the new Hiawatha cutting board. Have you given any thought to selling some merchandise with your logo? I think it's pretty cool and would be interested in purchasing some to help support you and your channel. Make sure your helper gets a taste. Great video, keep them coming Darrin. #Ashkickinbbq

Hey, Darrin! We like steaks pink in the middle, not red. I’m smoking a tritip right now and was going to go for 190°, after wrapping at 170°. Now I think I’d better pull it at 180°. I guess I’ll have to experiment with this but do you have a thought on the temp for /not quite/ well done?
