Today I took a quiz on Essex slang with my friend Fabulous Hannah. I thought it'd be easy...

Thank you so much for watching! Hope you enjoyed it!

If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make weekly "comedy" videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I'm also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I'll see you next Sunday! :)

I would call this more pronounciations rather than slang

Being from southend I was a little insulted for like 3 seconds when she said 'don't bother' going to southend, then I actually thought about it.. yeah I wouldn't bother😂

I'm from Essex and she's tottally not posh Essex aha, that's what the most Essex people say to make themselves feel better. Plus this isn't slang just pronunciations, Essex does have slang words tho aha!

This is not slang. It's just an accent.

I've lived in Essex my whole life and i never realised how strong my accent was until i came to uni and all everyone does is take the complete piss out of me for sounding like Danny Dyer ffs😂

Evan: I've never heard of 20 being called a score
Abraham Lincoln: Bro I totally have a speech where I said FOUR SCORE AND SEVEN YEARS AGO

The fact she doesn’t know the difference between slang and pronunciation, doesn’t help with the Essex stereotype. 🙄

I lived in Essex until I was 18. I don't ever remember discussing ethics in Romford market. Maybe times have changed.

I’m from Essex, she is VERY Essex which isn’t always a bad thing even if stereotypically it might be. My parents aren’t from Essex so I didn’t really get the accent or use a lot of these terms, but it’s so weird hearing someone who doesn’t know what all these mean 😂 Also, you can go to Bas Vegas for a meal or to the cinema too

This isn’t even slang, it’s just the way some people pronounce words 😕

I can tell she’s from Essex even without her speaking

I'm from Hertfordshire and this sounds almost like my accent. It's more like Estuary English/London than Essex specific.

From my experience, the closer you get to East London the more people speak like this. Not everyone from Essex speaks like this and it annoys me that people think they do lol

I love that Evan can get all the quick combo words because that is a very east coast thing lol! Im from PA and very close to new jersey and These are the ones that were easy for me too!

I'm not sure it's slang. I'd say more bad pronunciation of the English language. And considering I'm from Yorkshire/North East England, that's saying something

In Scotland, I’ve only heard “you’re a weapon” as an insult lmao they might be using it wrong tho

I was hoping to learn some slang but instead I learnt they don’t know the difference between slang and the way accents change how people Pronounce words 🙄🙁
