The drummers name is Michael Shrieve, he was around 19 or 20 at the time and there was a longer drum 🥁 solo than was shown on this clip, other well known songs are:
Black Magic Woman
And
Oye Como Va

Carlos Santana and the drummer thought they were going on that night so they dropped some acid that was going around Woodstock…..unbeknownst to them they were sent on stage 45 minutes after taking such acid !!! The rest is history 🔥 Carlos said in later interviews that it felt like he was holding a snake instead of his guitar 🎸 Tripping out of his mind for his debut for the world (Legend) ❤️🔥🎸

I was there. Santana rocked the entire crowd. Everybody was cool.

Something I love about this clip is the expression on the musician's faces. They are loving it up there. They are so happy just to be playing together.

Glad I got to live through that. Best times of my life now I’m old but I can still listen.

This Woodstock performance, yes I agree, was like being put into a time machine and a powerful both lightning tstayed real long hitting the ground non-stop; the passion of everybody else on stage were altogether profound. Love and Respect.  And another yes, it was like a holy grail that defined what it feels like --- when being freed by the golden years of rock music.

This is masterpiece work of art.

Oh yeah: Latin rock, Chicano rock, Latin jazz fusion ... pick your category. I saw them two weeks after Woodstock, when they played at the Texas International Pop Festival in Lewisville, Texas. Fantastic.

One of the greatest live performances ever, even for those of us who've seen this many times. The Mike Shrieve show.

I love your reactions, like this one, mouth closed, ears opened, and beautiful facial expression. They are all part of a person's reaction. Some honestly believe their little 'clever joke' supercede Jim Morrison speaking as one the greatest poets of all time. You show great respect, for the 'musician', Thank you.

The drummer is Michael Shrieve, please listen to "The Waves Within" another favourite from Santana which highlights the drummer and his amazing skill and contribution to that song. Blessings!🙏

My brother's band covered this in high school. The drummer was 14 and was truly as good as this guy in Santana. Banned Falyfe. Happy days!

unfortunately this is the short edited version . Michael Shrieve the drummer was only about 19-20 years old and has a GREAT solo on the long version . Before this performance NOBODY outside of San Francisco had heard of or even knew who Santana even was

Ultra great song to react to. Enjoyed the music playin' and you groovin'. I love all kinds of music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Some fun stuff in the 50s too.

I believe that this was the best lineup Santana ever had.
