I think the Centaurs thought that Harry's death would be the event that started the 2nd Wizarding War, when what they were actually seeing was Harry's death being the event that helped end the war.

Couldnt they have still joined without interfering with that fate? Just dont interfere when its harry and voldy in the forbidden forest. You can still fight the other guys. And if they truly believed in the stars setting a fate, then wouldnt the prediction of Harry's death be the outcome regardless? Same as Trelawney's predictions. The outcome is the outcome, its everything that leads to it that you cant predict or control.
