This is one of the most accurate, honest and informative videos on YT. As a bladesmith I can say that. Nice

Great video and explanation of something that was really confusing for me! I’m much clearer on plunges and choils now!

Great video man, definitely cleared up what a sharpening choil is! I was in the same boat where I saw reviews mention it and I knew what part of the knife it was but never understood what was considered bad or good.

Very helpful. I look at them from the bottom too to see how quickly they get thicker too. It is really weird how many knife makers don't do this. Why? I mean, the Spartan Blades Harsey has none. I don't get it...

That Kubey knife looks like the smallest grind real estate possible, but at least there's a little. Makes me wonder if Kizer makes theirs non existent on purpose.

I like Kizer designs but their sharpening choils seem to suck.

Some designers prioritize form over function. They’re hell bent on a specific look.

What’s ironic, is Spyderco’s tag line, that their knives “are designed in the dark”.

The intent being to emphasize their philosophy of “function over form”. It may be ugly, but damn, they are a great tool.

The irony as it pertains the sharpening choil, they took the “designed in the dark” a bit too seriously and completely left it out!

For a maker to claim that their design is based on 100% utility & use, they blew it in the sharpening choil.
