Do these magnet things stay on the cymbals when a drummer is riding them hard using bigger sticks? Im the FOH Sound Engineer in a smaller size 160 seat rock club & the different drummers each weekend drive me crazy with the volume of their cymbals. I use (expensive) non residue leaving cloth backed duct tape to bring their volume down- but of course the drummers always bitch and moan that it “changes their sound too much” (they are all already deaf anyways), which im sure it does change their “tone” a bit, but they are always the ONLY ones who notice that. The other musicians on stage usually thank me at the end of the night. Again, im seeking to lower the cymbals decibel output, and am researching other options/ techniques out there. Tried those rubber gel sticky things but they hardly make a noticeable volume difference & always end up coming off within a few songs. We’ve canceled several bands because of the drummers refusing to allow snare & cymbal volume dampening.
