In todays vlog documenting my training for a 70min half marathon i talk about my experience of running twice a day in my current training block an the benefits of double run days has had on my race results. Disclaimer: Please note that double runs will not work for everyone. Replicating my training directly could result in injury so please build up your training slowly like i have done for the past 2 years. I've run twice-a-days in past, and it has indeed resulted in increased fitness. It's just it takes a lot of willpower to go out in the morning and then ALSO in the evening. Anyways, good video! 👍

Hi Ben. Since I’m doing doubles at low intensity hearth rate, my runs are less boring, level of fitness improved quite a lot and my body is less beaten up after quality runs. Greetings from Beijing ✌️

Actually crazy that a 16K at 4”30 is an easy run for you 😂 recently started running again and a 5K at 5”00 is a big workout for me

There is some good science that has been done which shows that double runs improve mitochondria function compared to longer single runs and independent of glycogen depletion. I’m not a high mileage runner and I’ve been doing them. It’s difficult but feels so good to complete the second threshold workout. Thanks for this channel.

Just subscribed, love the channel so going back through old videos. You should try getting up to dedham, about 15 miles up the A12 in spring to see Constable country for something different. Great videos

I used to love running to and from work for my double runs. I loved getting back home especially after a night shift and not having to get ready to go out before I could shower, eat and get some sleep. Saved petrol as well! I just had to be organised at the start of the week to have clothes in place to change into once I arrived at work and had showered there.

Just found your channel Ben and love your content - really inspired to try and up the intensity and distance (after a couple of years of gradually getting back into it after 15 year break) and hit some good times. I’ve been doing double runs for a few months now as part of my commute - easy 9km to work in the morning then flat out 5km on the direct route home, 2-3 times a week. Probably the biggest gains I’ve had as a result. Anyway thanks for the tips and the inspiration!

I’m thinking about starting two-a-day training. Not sure about a plan just yet, but eventually I’ll get there!

Hi Ben, I'm down in New Zealand. Am a completely new runner, middle-aged, and bit overweight but fit and can walk a fair distance at a good rate and no problems. Completed my first-ever 5k park run last weekend. Walked fast and jogged where I could. Took me 45.30 🤣🤣 I would like to start to try and run the whole way and would be grateful for any suggestions as to best thing to do.

I used to run twice to split up my runs.
After discovering the Wim Hof 3 pillars I run more times because my legs say nothing but hell yes.

I used to reduce mileage from painful stiff calves.

Now I seek twice the vertical gain sigh zero soreness.

If you’re serious about your cardiovascular system.

I am an old and slow runner. But since I have done some double runs from last year, I have seen the benefits. However, not all my doubles are running, if I feel sore I will just hop onto my indoor bike. But I will do sth twice a day during week days. Another benefit if I may add, double-day allows me to run daily, now my rest day is just when I skip the morning run but then I will run in the evening. Your easy runs are 'so fast' for me, what is your VO2Max. I enjoy your informative and humble character video. Tqvm.
