yup.. who's arguably best player is American.. while Toews, Keith, Seabrook, and Crawford are all Canadian. Leave the "who's better" question to be decided by the Olympics, not the Stanley Cup.
I don't think Canadians have better hockey genetics than any other nation. I think it's a matter of crop to choose gems from. I'd suspect there are more kids playing hockey in Canada than there are in the US, even with the higher US population. Ice is everywhere in Canada so theres ease of access from the start. This may also be why we turn out more baseball and football players.. there's simply more grass and turf. Obviously culture plays a part in it too, but the culture all began with these environment factors. There may also be some consistent nuances that differ from country to country in terms of how kids are fundamentally taught and developed, but I think that's about it.

Maybe the question should be which country teaches and develops the best. It's fun to root for your country's team tho. It's something to rally behind, despite how corrupt the nation they represent is..

It stabds to be said that the average Stanley Cup winning team has a 2/3 Canadian born roster and Team Canada routinely wins international tournaments.

The cup may be in Chicago but it was won by some of the greatest Canadian hockey players on the planet without them their wouldn't be a team in Chicago today
