ABSOLUTELY! One of our ‘Retired Elders’ took a nasty fall in her home and it has changed the entire way for how she lived. She’s had to relocate to live in a single level home, out of the home she owned and a sleuth of many other things. We keep her, her family and all who knew and loved her lifted in prayer. 🙏🏾

You better believe it! Retired City Inspector here. Owners often balked at SIMPLE repairs for handrails. One day I was informed a scheduled appointment was canceled as the building owner……died from accidental fall. 😮 (Sadly, he was one of the decent people I dealt with who was repairing his buildings.)

Paramedic here, absolutely true. And when you get on blood thinners or are older with more fragile bones, please get out of a house that has stairs!

Not one, but two of my elderly neighbours where i used to live died from falling down their stairs! UK Victorian terraced houses often have steep, narrow staircases, and tiled floors at the bottom. My next door neighbour's death was blamed on a combination of loose stair carpet and worn slippers on her feet. We heard her before and it sounded like she had also been drinking. Not a good combination. Her husband said She fell backwards from the top step, and we heard it all through the wall. Absolutely awful. They took her to a brain injury hospital, but she never woke up, and died a few days later.😢 i have handrails.

So true. Just because you are young doesn't mean falling down the stairs can't hurt you. But listen to the good doctor.

Heard that someone terrified and super cautious during height of pandemic never left the house, until she fell down the stairs, broke a hip and went to hospital and caught and eventually died of COVID. It was so sad.

So far, the last 4 years, my feet have slipped out from under me & my big butt has saved me from injury! 😳 First time, my grandson was behind me, while I was still trying to make sure I was in one piece, encouraging me to get up!! "Gramma... hurry up! I'm hungry! You need to make me breakfast!" 🤣🤣🤷‍♀️

There was a movie where someone died exactly that way, but i can't remember the name. I've never worn socks on hardwood stairs since though!

Yeah, I fell down the stairs and landed on the steel railing on my ribs and somehow I didn’t break any ribs

I fell down my stairs a year ago & broke my ankle. I was carrying a comforter in my arms to put in the wash; part of it fell out out of my arms & I slipped on it. Stupid accident, and my ankle will never be the same. ☹️
