Insane Reckoning Trick [2 Hits Each Proc] [Classic]

Today, I will share with you another amazing strat for us Paladins. And it will be featuring Reckoning.

Reckoning is suppose to grant us an additional hit when we get crit. Normally however, that is not the case. It can give anything from 0-100% of an additional swing. The thing reckoning does, is that it finishes your current "swing". If you were just about to finish it either way, the talent is a bit of a waste.

However, that it finishes your current swing, is also its greatest strength.

It will only attempt to finish your swing if you are actively attacking. However if you are not attacking (auto hit) then it will simply store a charge for later. But the bonus of it "finishing" a swing is still there. That makes it store 2 instant hits in one charge of Reckoning.

And thankfully, we don't even have to "auto" hit all the time to do our normal damage. Our swingtimer is being lowered even without having auto attack on. So the plan is then to keep auto attack off as much as possible to be able to benefit as much as possible everytime we get crit. We will manually toggle the attack button just before we are about to attack (to swing) and then turn it off to disable it.

That is if you want to maximize the potential from Reckoning...

Note: If you make a macro
/startattack
/stopattack
You can spam it and it will grant you every auto hit intime, but you never have to worry about having auto hit auto activated
Much easier to manage spamming one button (macro) instead of watching timer

As a paladin, I'm glad we have Rextroy. He makes my class more valuable and customizable. Thanks man.

Wow. I used to play vanilla reck bomb spec, knew about toggling autoattack and resetting the swing timer, but never thought about using it like this. I've never seen anyone else use it like this either. That's pretty awesome!

The stop auto attack was and is the way to use it, and just attack when you are in range

Its a nerf, impressed you can sound positive about it. In short I have to keep toggling auto atack on and off. Kind of defeats why i have it on to begin with. Rerolling.

Sounds exhausting.

Can you please put into writing how reckoning actually works because it's quite complicated from what my initial understanding was.

Is there a buff that shows how many stacks of reck you have stored up or do you have to count the crits before you try to reck bomb ?

Great video. I noticed the lack of an extra swing if I was late into my swing time so I'd sit early to wait for it to complete (and store an extra charge with the sit stand trick.) Vs mobs like tigers with fast autos, trying to get the instant single swing every time they hit you feels optimal, to give your 2h effectively 1-1.2 attack speed.
Unfortunately ravager procs seem to end reck bomb early, while also expending all charges, so you can miss up to 4 swings with it.

Is the triggering of reckoning on standup still possible after the recent nerf to reckoning? I manage to always get crit by the mob but never gain a reckoning charge.

I'm really skeptical about it, because i remember back in the day the extra attacks stored even against casters.
Pretty sure the "generated" spell batching is the reason it doesn't work as how it used to back then.

But still, good video, thanks for the amazing tip !

i've been toying around with reckoning for a while now. While the ability has interesting pvp potential verse a rogue, dw fury warrior or enh shaman. In terms of pve play I'm finding it better to just run Ret if I want to kill things with a two hander. The whole process is quicker and smoother, and you don't have to rely on crit rng from mobs or the hectic /sit and move trick to pull crits from a mob. Multitarget you may as well just run prot spec sword n board as you risk being overwhelmed waiting for stacks. Single target you end up spending more time tricking crits from a mob with /sit and move. So like I said, better off running Ret or Prot for farming. Reckoning while having limited but fun application in pvp you are better off running Ret or Holyshock.
