If you’re visiting Salt Lake City from out of town this is my FAVORITE scenic drive to recommend when the road is open (and it just opened last week!!).

Here’s what you do:

- Drive from Salt Lake City up Big Cottonwood Canyon. You can put “Brighton Ski Resort” in your GPS to make sure you’re going the right way. There are several amazing hikes along the way if you have time to stop - let me know if you need recommendations.

- After driving around the Brighton Loop, continue back down the canyon slightly until you hit the turnoff for Guardsman Pass. This is the part that just opened fully for the season and the video of me is at the Guardsman Pass Overlook.

- After hitting the Overlook you have a few options - turn around and go back to Salt Lake City, continue to Park City, or to all the way through the pass to Midway (my favorite!). If you choose Midway, you can still go back to Salt Lake either via Park City or Heber/Orem for a beautiful loop.

So happy this drive is finally open. And while I think it’s the best for anyone visiting due to proximity to the city, there are still tons of other beautiful Northern Utah scenic drives to check out if you’ve done this one.
