For giving dimension vertically first time i.e. in other plane how you found that you were working in front view

None of your suggestions worked with my 3D drawing. My Dim lines are always on the floor of my drawing disconnected from the part. Never have I been able to get my dim line leaders to attach to the points I choose no matter what plane I choose. . Why can't AUTOCAD be as simple as Solidworks? uug.

in my opinion, this not a good way to make a dimension with the "move" command on it. Use the ucs coordinate system. Move that ucs, then you can make your dimension. Dont move the dimension itself, it will make the nodes located insignificantly.
