Unless they want to add a bracket reset for Grand Finals I hate the idea of having a loser's bracket. I've seen too many times where a team loses in the finals in one bo5 to a team they sent to the lower bracket. Why do they only get to lose one bo5 and the others got a second shot?

At the end of the day the whole point of talking about double elim is it could give us more games, if you’re fine with seeing 7 meaningful international bo5s (less than that in reality) at worlds every 12 months that’s fine. Some people would just wish we could have a system that gave us more matchups, even though it may have its flaws

On principal, I hate any double elimination format where the grand final is still just 1 single best of 5. It makes no sense that every other team in the bracket gets a mulligan except for the team that went through the winner's bracket. It actively punishes the team that didn't lose until the end. Imagine we had a lower bracket and LNG came back and beat T1 3-2 in the final - then the game score would be 5-3 in T1's favor for the whole tournament but LNG would be the winner? No way. Lower bracket teams should be required to beat the Upper bracket finalist twice.

Why there's still no double ellim during Worlds is beyond me.
Didn't OG win one of their TI titles in Dota 2 after getting to finals through lower bracket and thanks to double ellimination format?
It's so dry to see JDG written off entirely by lots of people because they lost one bo5 series.

If you want to do Double Elim fully. you do a 2nd BO5 in finals if the upper finalist loses the 1st BO5 of finals. Its simple, do that or dont do double elim; it literally disadvantages the winning team to have double elim. Also virtually no professional event does double elim in the final playoff/tournament.

For a tournament where you have so much time to prepare, a single elimination bo5 is fine because you’re allowed to mess up 2 games against a team and still win. With double elimination where grand finals is a single bo5, you’re allowed to mess up 5 games against the same team which is a bit much.

JDG loses 1 best of five in the entire year and it costs them everything. Makes no sense to not have a lower bracket when we already dont get to see a bo5 between many teams that we were hyped for.

With allthe time in between since semifinals we definitely couldve had a losers bracket

But why leave out high pressure situations from the analysis of a team? For example GENG in a vacuum might be phenomenal but they can’t perform under pressure of a big game. So are they really that good? For me that’s a key to be great, to be able to handle that stress.

I don't understand league fans' obsession with double elimination. There's a reason no major tournament in any major competitive sport in the world has that format: it's not definitive. Top level competition is about performing in the moment when it matters most, and sitting around wishing the supposed best team in history had a second chance in the biggest tournament in the world is completely misguided IMO.

The most important tournament should be the hardest tournament so there should be no 2nd chance.

I will never want a loser's bracket unless it's just to determine 3/4 place. t1 beating JDG was huge this weekend and giving them a second chance wouldn't be fair to t1
