Stop while inspired seems like something that wouldn't work for me, my memory is so shit that there's no way I'd remember what I wanted to write next.

Balabolka is my favourite free text to speech program. You can export audio files of your drafts, then listen to them like a podcast on your phone.

I've been doing 4 lately and I'm happy to see someone else mention it! I never heard of doing that before. Last week I just made a graveyard because I couldn't just delete a whole chapter haha

I’ve never thought of recording chapter word counts before, it sounds like a vital component to track.

The second tip is very underrated. My first story (I was in like, fourth grade. NO JUDGING), I read it in front of the class and, as I read I was like: "Da phaque?!". The pacing, the plot, the characters, the dialogue, BASICALLY THE WHOLE THING was a pain to read. I'm very extroverted so being embarrassed before a crowd really tells how agonizing that story was.💀💔
So, Thank you for actually pointing it out.🥲

Stumbled upon your channel recently and I just have to say you pump out amazing content for us aspiring writers! Loved the tip about leaving a word half finished at the end of the day and then coming back the next day and picking up right where you left off.

I use the read aloud in word. It's very beneficial to catch errors. Love that tip 5. Keep a modicum of inspo for the next writing session love it!!!

I love that tip about stopping mid-word. I’ve never heard of that but it seems like a really great idea. I gotta try that one

Best proofing tip from professional proofreaders that I got: read your entire manuscript backwards, one word at a time, starting from the last word.

This forces you to slow down so much. I've caught tons of issues this way, including stuff that has been there from the very first draft.

Tips 4 and 5 were huge for me.

Just this week I was doing some old paragraph deleting, a graveyard doc may have made it a quicker process. Especially due to the likelihood of not ever needing the original attempts as you said.

Advice related to riding the wave of inspiration are my favorite. All week I have been trying to milk the entire writing session for all my current ideas, but it may be best to leave yourself some leftovers so you don't need to cook again tomorrow! LOL

Reading a work out loud flips over rocks exposing so many flaws. Plus, prose has a rhythm. This will help identify subpar prose. Have your spouse read it out loud as well... and even additionally that text to speech. Overkill, and not necessary, but... It helps.

I love stopping halfway through a word that's fantastic!

Jed, your channel is chill, you are very well spoken, and your tips are highly valuable. Great job man. I agree with this list especially the last one. Diminishing returns is the state of work where your brain needs to rest to remain in peak condition. If you overwork yourself you will actually ruin your inspiration and lose your idea. It is best to take breaks, do something else, and return with a refreshed state of mind.
