I was like late thirties when I found out standing isn't common practice for everyone. But I also discovered in my early 40s that the proper practice is to get a bidet, with a built in dryer, and then to stand to do some additional drying.

I use a bidet. But also stand to dry off. So I guess I'm on Steve's side. I feel like I can get all the angles better standing. 🤷‍♀️

Sitting is an awkward twist that has lead to side cramps, its just more comfortable for me and Steve i assume, also, and I can't speak for steve here, but who says we are standing straight up which would close the cheeks, there's definitely a middle ground...now the important question, fold or scrunch??

Nevermind the fact that this is such a bizarre conversation, and that I'm shocked to learn that some people are standing to wipe. Instead, when you're at home, which is where most of MY sitting occurs, you should install a bidet. They are high tech, easy to install, easy to use, and if you do you will never go back because it is the cleanest your rear has ever been after going. So, um, just do that and forget the wiping altogether when you're at home.

I've always stood up to wipe my entire life. I've never felt like I could get my hand around the toilet seat and my junk to wipe.

In all honesty, it makes more sense for AMAB to wipe standing up and for AFAB to wipe sitting down. AFAB don't have sensitive parts that they would have to push aside to wipe while sitting.

Also, bidets are amazing. I even just got a cheap one that doesn't do anything but split the hose going into the toilet and shoot that water and it was life changing for me, a person who has IBS. No heating the water, no drying, but also no realizing you didn't quite get everything half an hour later when your cheeks start chafing after getting a rash.

I remember the first time realizing that a stand wiping was not common. In a public bathroom and guy next to me, seemingly just stood up and pulled his pants up. I remember thinking to myself, "oh my god, dude didn't wipe" then i noticed this a few times more and realize they wipe while sitting. I also remember thinking to myself that is was wierd to wipe while sitting. All because ive been a standup wiper my whole life. I tried a few times to wipe while sitting, and i couldn't do a good enough job, and it also made me uncomfortable to have my hand so close to the bowl. Im like Steve, i pull one cheek open to wipe. I see alot of bidet comments, and im really curious to try it, but have anxiety and don't think id be able to give up my Charmin. Got to end this comment now, because i have to put down the phone so i can wipe.

I used to stand when a kid, but got caught by my grandma and she standardised me!
