For lore context: The Ogres were originally made to be the Bulwark against Chaos by the Old Ones. They primarily kept to themselves, and sometimes warred with Cathy and the other races on the other side of the World's Edge Mountains - though never to the full extent we see them currently. It wasn't until one of the Cathian emperors pulled a meteorite from the sky and slammed it into the Ogre's ancestral homelands is when the Ogres started to turn. That meteorite unlocked or carried something unworldly, causing the once fertile steppes of the Ogres to become barren and an insatiable hunger to occur. They resorted to destroying a race called the Sky Giants, and even going as far as eating their own children until one profit journeyed out to the creator. Instead of finding a smashed-in hole with a rock at the center, he found a mouth with row upon row of sharp jagged teeth and an unending pit in the center. The Great Maw had arrived.
