Laura Kuenssberg and Clive Myrie anchor BBC News' biggest programme on what could be an extraordinary night in British politics.

Alongside them, Reeta Chakrabarti presents the results on her giant screen and BBC political editor Chris Mason analyses what they mean for each political party.

This year, the programme is presented from all four nations of the UK. Jeremy Vine has taken the famous swingometer to Cardiff, Kirsty Wark gathers reaction in Glasgow, and Andrea Catherwood is with Northern Ireland’s political leaders in Belfast.

Professor Sir John Curtice, the ‘expert’s expert’ is on hand to offer his vast psephological knowledge and insights.

Fiona Bruce, Victoria Derbyshire, Naga Munchetty are among the well-known BBC faces reporting from key locations around the country.

Amazing continuity announcement. “How long are you staying up for?” Invoking the Portillo moment. Everyone knew it was going to happen again.

5:03 That was the point when the anxiety went through the roof & my heart was racing, then the relief as the Exit Poll suggested the tories were going to get gubbed, then a tear in the eye, then the fear set in again hoping that the Exit Poll was accurate. Then the look on Laura Toriessberg's face! What a great night.

Not even being at the British Grand Prix and on a campsite, was going to stop me using a WiFi connection to have hardly any kip and see the glory happen in real time. What a brilliant night and the Exit Poll certainly made me scream!

All the talk was the swing required for a Labour majority of just one seat was 12.7%. But the final swing was only 10.8% and they got a majority of 180.

My observation is it's not necessarily the swing itself that counts, but how the swing is distributed. All Labour needed for a landslide was the collapse of the Conservative vote! Labour lost thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of votes to Gaza supporting candidates.

Something else that hasn't been mentioned was the voter ID rule this time. Most of the people who didn't have the correct ID would most likely have voted Labour, which also accounts somewhat for lower turnout. Take all of those factors away and Labour would have vastly increased their share of the vote and the swing would have been at record levels.

Outside the UK. Cheers I can make my way through this over the next month. Ploughing through C4s coverage at the moment.

Age 69, now, this was everything I had prayed for all my life. Much better than 1997, for me; it feels more Labour this time; I just wish my parents and deceased sisters were alive to see it

Maybe im just being a bit naive, but i do genuinely believe labour and PM sir keir starmer will be a force of change in our politics. It seems they have done more in the first 2 week's than Rishi managed in under 2 years, there has already been meetings with junior doctors who have been constantly striking as has other parts of NHS but tories refused to meet and try to agree on a deal. Not to mention starmer in his first few days flying to Washington for the NATO summit, meeting Biden then a week later hosting european leaders at blenheim Palace for the EPC summit. Who knows how long labour will be in number 10 for and whether things will start to improve but compared to the tories they are already doing a thousand times better, lets see if we can say the same when the next election rolls around in 2029

As an outsider, how is the majority calculated in the UK? The Exit Poll claims a majority of 170 seats but the margin of victory would be about 280 seats and also, Labour has 74 seats more than what is needed to win the most seats. Maybe someone can explain how this math works.

Voter volitility? Or how about people sick of everything Tories did during after covid? Tories were so awful Labour didn't even have campaign on Partygate or preferable covid deals for Tory chums.
