The F-15 that I crewed back in 1981 pulled 12G's for a second. Pilot was white as a ghost. 74-125. Wings rippled and had puddles on them every time it rained.

I was stationed as a Marine on Okinawa our base was cross the road from Kadena AFB I was their in 79-80 in 79 the Air Force traded their F-4s for F-15s I got to see them fly over all the time like being at an air show 👍🇺🇸

Insane as this is, what's even more insane is the F15-EX is likely even higher performance.

Would you rather have an F-15 protecting you or an A-10? I would go with the F-15. Those things flying over at high speed low altitude will scare you to death.

The F15 is the what results when the US defense industry (and government) throws its weight behind a project meant to counter a threat that didn't really exist (the Foxbat being a super agile fighter) and is *mega* impressive. One of the few good things to come out of McDonnell Douglas basically buying Boeing with Boeing's money (I know that isn't how it worked on paper but that is when Boeing shifted to the accountant and share price lead model that that has created so many problems for them rather than being engineering first) is that this platform has seen continued development. Crazy to see a plane of this age still be so capable.
