It took me so long to work out what was "right" for me, and also being OK with the idea that it might change from day to day!

This is something I can struggle with usually due to either very emotional events (like a bereavement thankful not very often) or more commonly hormonal shifts. It takes practice and consistency. Finding whole food I like has been key to helping this. Also learning the difference between hunger and thirst. And those times when I eat larger sizes I am a little more careful the next day. Sometimes you need that tub of ben and jerrys that is fine just don’t indulge in a whole tub every day.

Thank you for this👍👍I’m watching this after eating 3 🍩 donuts (my husband bought) following a stressful event. How to counteract this?? Sometimes I have to cover them up with a dish towel so I won’t see them 😂😂. Thank you for all your great videos.

Most of my life I have had a poor relationship with food. It started quite young. I grew up in an abusive home and one of my punishments when I was about 7 years old would be starvation. I wouldn't be allowed to eat all day long, until dinner time. So I was very skinny and hungry and I'd never eat at school because I was afraid to because of what was happening at home. I would usually give my lunch away to my classmates or just not get up at all. When I was about 13 I made my first friend and she would bring me snacks because she noticed I didn't ever eat. She made me feel safe to eat as I pleased and I began eating a lot with her, like way more than I needed because I was so hungry. Eventually I gained healthy weight but then it got unhealthy as I kept up with it for an entire year or two. Then my parents made fun of me for being fat and I got scared to eat again. So I stopped eating and got into sports and worked out around 15 and lost the weight again. Ever since then it's been an up and down challenge for me. Most of the time after that I would starve myself throughout the day and then binge in the evening. My mom kicked me out at 17 and from there I was free to eat what I wanted and I gained weight progressively from there because I was constantly eating out. It skyrocketed during COVID as I was constantly gone and door dashing fast food. After that, I kind of realized everything that had happened to get me to my total weight of 275 and decided I wanted a change. I became restrictive and ate less and lost 55 pounds which I have surprisingly kept off for the last 5 months even though it wasn't the most healthy method. I've gone back to binging but now it's all day every day. I recently gave my life to Jesus Christ and he's revealed to me my complete past and how I've been overeating which has made me a glutton. I tend to struggle with my portion sizes and eat for 2-3 people in one sitting and it makes me feel greedy and awful. I want to get this under control. So if you are a believer in Jesus Christ our savior please pray for me. My name is Elysia. (E-lie-shuh) I don't want to be greedy anymore and feel powerless when it comes to food. If anyone has any helpful tips and advice please comment below! Thank you for reading if you made it this far. God bless. ❤️

About 2000 calories for men is the correct portion size.

There is no "physical" portion because different foods have different caloric densitys. If you go off of "feeling" you are doomed in this modern era.

Thousands of years ago you could eat whatever and burn it off because food wasn't as calorically dense.

There is no correct "portion" for bread, or burgers, or butter, or cakes.... You can't intuitively eat these foods, because someone can shove more calories into them then your body can even identify.

"Portion" control is a complete myth.

Most humans can eat like 3-5lbs of food per day.

You can't eat 3lbs of cake and be healthy.

These foods are man made thus you MUST look at the calories and the nutritional facts sheet and make an informed decision.
