The 50 year old guy living next door driving a Civic with 2+ million in his bank account/retirement doesn't move the needle with most people, they are only impressed by the superficial depreciating asset, lol. Most people aren't thinking "Oh I can build up my money and enjoy a good life later" instead they think "Oh man if I get money I can buy a Ferrari like this dude!" That's why most people are financially illiterate and living paycheck to paycheck. They can't afford groceries, but they have a $1000+ Iphone and a $600 car payment.
