Add Simple Wind To Any Object in Blender

Use the code "polygoniq10" at the checkout for 10 percent off!

In this video, we are taking a look at how I add simple wind, with the "simple deform modifier" to trees and shrubs and sometimes even hair objects. It works surprisingly well!

I also created the "Add Simple Wind" add-on for myself because I found myself doing this a lot for a project I was working on and I wanted to automate the process.

I hope you find this video useful!

Also, I forgot to mention, Botaniq add-on has a "add wind" feature but, whenever I used it in the past, the viewport performance fell drastically.
That's the reason I started using the "Simple Deform Modifier" in the first place. They hopefully improve it with future updates.

But yeah, botaniq gets updated all the time. It may not have the same issue with Engon now maybe.

For an option without Keyframes, simply add a frame expression/driver to the transformations (rotation values) of the Empty. Something like, "# frame/100" (no spaces) works well, with the number each frame is divided by determining the general speed of the action.
