Jeremy's great-great-great-grandfather, John, was dubbed the Godfather of lightsabers. John was the first person in the galaxy to discover kyber crystals, and using a kyber crystal, he invented the first-ever lightsaber. John sold the design to the Jedi, and they began mass-producing lightsabers so every Jedi in the Jedi Order could have one. However, John slowly became a doomsayer because he believed an evil force would arise and use lightsabers for evil deeds. He was not wrong, as corrupt Jedi formed a new order called the Sith, and they use lightsabers with a red blade.

Thanks for the interesting topic! 🌹You help me be in a loop! I didn’t know that Geoffrey Hinton won the Nobel prize.
When I use AI for research I’m wondering how smart it is and at the same time, I feel a bit anxious because it knows almost everything about me and even more maybe 🤔 AI suggests options in feeds that I didn’t expect and frankly speaking, it hits the spot most of the time.

I really hope that you carry on teaching us English instead of AI! Today I learnt more meanings of the word "dubbed". I only use it referring to a film that has been dubbed, by the way, I love films in original version. Again, hope you will keep helping us all with your real voices, AI might take away jobs in the future, a pity!

Everyone when kid wanted to be the godfather of something that will change the world. What a pleasure having your name dubbed into something that describe your achievement and feeling like a superheroes from the movies.
The downside will be always to be faced of doomsayer that will find an odds where in some way where your innovation won't go well.

«Geoffey Hinton, now believes that AI technol;ogy could be dangerous in the future.»
Not now, but for quite a while, with the aim of attributing additional hype and importance, with the aim of hidden advertising of the stochastic parrot served as if it could have whatever to do with intelligence — intelligence which requires cognitive ability/representation, while it does not, and cannot, have it.
Everything could be dangerous in the future, even not using it, even this tricky hype of him — because of cognitive derail/anarchy that manifests, among others, as AI Godfather, not distinguishing between pattern matching and logic, etc etc.
The best definition of gpt/llm/machine-learning is "pattern matching on steroids". So it is all about statistics.
We are going well beyond Orwell's, with additional danger that while Orwell's were about functional (government) impositions, this phenomenon has to do with cognitive chaos out of profit chaos. From the first there's a hope to recover, while from the second much much less.
Ops, another one:
«He said that one day we might not be able to control AI technology, and it could destroy humanity.»
Utter nonsense. We might not control if we base decisions on random numbers, or other nonsense. The West isn't even able to control the current phenomena like Hinton. I say "the West" because the self-appointed speaker cannot talk in the name of the humankind.
--
The basic proof of trickstering is the one in the misnomer AI. Intelligence, especially artificial one, has to do with cognitive representation, and so with logic and its properties (inference, classification, relation, etc), but they decided to simplify the language instead of better articulation seen the augmented complexity of our world.
Never mind not enough public here for this complex topic. To learn a language one has to express thoughts.
I saw a bit of video with him, he was commenting in kinda bullying style the Chomsky's findings/ideas about the innate capabilities when it comes to languages.
