Hearst Castle and the grounds are so beautiful.  The drive down from Monterey is spectacular.  I'm so thrilled I was able to see such a wonderful place.

Is gorgeous; the weather, the castle, the guest houses, is an enchanted mountain 🏔

This is the first video I've seen that shows the castle in its surrounding landscape. The closeup of the pool and all that is nice, but the setting of the castle in the mountains and ocean is amazing.

my kindergarten class at my school in Compton called Little Ben we visited this castle on a school trip event. I'm 53 now and when I saw this video it was like time was frozen. GOD is amazing. REMEMBER the TIME. Memories!!!

The people die, their houses live forever to tell their storys to the visitors. I love houses, especially old ones with a history!

Hearst Castle is so enormous, we had to take to the skies to appreciate its grandeur.

Incredible! Time and time again the powerful build this great castles or palaces and they hardly ever end up living there, and if they do just like William Randolph Hearst died before it is completed

If you're in the San Simeon area of California, it's well worth the stop to take the tour.

My local radio station had a comedian who's married to Lydia Hearst and I'm fascinated with that family now, like if the Kardashians didn't have a reality show I'd probably be fascinated with them too😂

It would be amazing if someone had the $ for a private party and invite inner city children and feed them all . Maybe someday places like this can help people heal just by the beauty of the sea and tranquility of the gardens . Imagine the creativity that could be sparked in a child if this was donated as a home for homeless or abandoned children . I know it'll never happen but I think it's a nice thought . ❤️

While Hearst Castle is impressive in terms of architecture and location, the interior and furnishings came off as a monument to excess and a lack of any real taste; the random acquisition of things for the sake of owning them. The haphazardness with which treasures are deployed at the mansion suggest no real style or concept. Just a kind of gluttony for the sake of gluttony that says nothing more profound than, "Look what I could by with a lot of money!" The ornate grounds and structures, designed by someone OTHER thant W.R. Hearst, were much more pleasing to a tasteful eye than the clunkily-deposited riches inside the home.

W R Hearst virtually sabotaged Orson Well career.

I'm inclined to think that Orson Welles called it about right.  Looks like a ridiculously gaudy hodge-podge of stuff, accumulated by a guy who had no qualms in starting a war in order to sell newspapers and make more money.

This is what every hoarder house would look like if they were rich and could afford an architect
