It could also hook someone's leg to trip them, which would further help vs heavy armor.

If you're fighting enemis with shields which your bullets can't penetrate, you can just use it to hook it, pull it down and shoot, tripping creatures, maybe using is to grab high places and climb, there are many possibilities

Kroot descend from flying predators and books often describe them dropping onto their enemies from high hiding places so it makes total sense that their bayonets would be designed to slash down rather than stab forward

I'm imagining one of them taking a sniper position and stabbing that into the ground to stabilize the gun

A Kroot Warrior vs the Predator would be a fun match up

One thing that I feel important to note here is that, canonically speaking, Kroot rifles are descended from traditional fighting staves that take advantage of their unique musculature. They're less using them as bayonets and more in a manner inspired by the real world's gunstock war clubs of indigenous Americans.

I'll admit a war pick type thing would certainly be better against heavily armored opponents, but I can't imagine it's very good for the gun.

Warhammer has lots of melee combat so I guess anything resembling medival weapon works

Also would make a effective climbing hook to effectively make use of the high ground

The kroot explicitly have a unique musculature that allows them to use the one on the barrel and the one on the stock more efficiently than a human could, as well.

It seems designed for hooking. Having the extra blade makes it a weird choice simply for armor penetration. I would imagine a sharp hooking weapon would be great for beings that like to consume their victims.

Honestly it's not that silly. As long as the material the gun is made of can take big hits without bending the barrel or breaking some part of the action, war picks and scythes have had plenty of legitimate success on the battlefield. Not perhaps lately for us, but w/e.

Kroot in game terms as strong as space marines and they are super fast. I think kroot can jump really high. IRL i would not want to mess around with a kroot.

If it has a hard enough recoil, firing while slicing it might also help with actually pulling through and cutting opponents

Bro imagine swinging that down over somebody’s riot shield right into their shoulder

Except no, it wouldn't work as a pick anymore than a scythe would. It's not reinforced, it's doesn't have the geometry of a pick, it is simply a blade.

Knowing Kroot doctrine...
It's not a gun with a blade.
It's a blade with a gun.

Oooh you should test if a tenno from warframe (warframe included) could kill a space marine or custode

I don't know if this would work, but you could also use the blade a stand or those two tiny sticks that are on the end of some sniper rifles

Ripper style for a bayonet seems good for shadow boys
