With this video, GIZ’s sector project Sustainable Rural Areas explains how territorial approaches reveal potentials for the sustainable development of rural areas and enable better development planning on site.

Territorial approaches take local needs and ecological, socio-economic, political or cultural potentials of rural areas into account. They go beyond sectorial isolated views and consider diverging interests, promote multi-stakeholders engagement and foster a multi-level approach. Furthermore, they call for better integrated and gender-sensitive development strategies that identify priorities and investment needs. This is why they contribute to several SDG’s and create additional value at larger scale.

As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ is dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world.
