Alaska Liquid Organic Fish Fertilizer - UPDATE
In this episode I will talk about the steps I take for applying fish fertilizer to my plants and vegetables in my raised garden bed and in containers. I will also show you the results of applying fish emulsion and some before and after pictures and videos.

#gardening #organicfertilizer #gardentips #gardenhacks

1. How to mix Alaska Liquid Organic Fish Fertilizer
For established plants, both decorative (hibiscus, etc.) and vegetables, I mix 1 tbsp of fish fertilizer into 1 gallon of water. This is enough for about 8 or 9 plants.
*Shake the fish fertilizer well before opening, as stuff tends to settle at the bottom of the bottle.

2. How to use and apply Alaska Liquid Organic Fish Fertilizer
For my raised garden bed vegetables, I pour the mixed fish fertilizer and water around the base of each plant (tomatoes & bell peppers). I always apply the emulsion on the night that I'm supposed to water my garden.
I apply the same principle for my container plants (jalapeno peppers, cucumbers and string beans).

3. When to apply Alaska Liquid Fish Fertilizer
On average, I apply the fish fertilizer every 10 days. If it's a new transplant and it needs extra boost (like the cucumbers in the video), I might do it every 3-4 days in the beginning. And I always apply it in the evening.

4. How much Alaska Liquid Fish Fertilizer do I put on my plants
Normally, about 1 1/2 gallon of mixed fish fertilizer and water is enough for about 7 tomato plants and 7 bell pepper plants in my raised garden bed. The same amount is enough for 6 string bean plants in containers, 2 jalapeno peppers, & 4 cucumber plants in pots.

Q & A:
1. Is fish fertilizer good for tomato flowering?
2. Is fish fertilizer good for the lawn
- I am not sure as I have never made this experiment... I don't think it would hurt. I experimented on a lot of plants - it just doesn't make a difference for some, but I've never destroyed a plant by applying fish fertilizer
3. Is fish fertilizer good for hibiscus
- yes, it encourages leaf growth (for more blooms use Epsom salt or Dr. Earth fertilizer)
4. Can I use fish fertilizer on seedlings
- yes, 1 teaspoon of fertilizer deluded in 1 gallon of water
5. Can I use fish fertilizer and Epsom salt at the same time
- I wouldn't mix them, I would give my plants at least 24 hours window between the two

Great info. And I like the comparison between the non and fertilized plants. Seeing is believing!

Fish fertilizer is the best! I have corn growing right now. I have 62 plants, aside from the rest of my garden. I own two little Beta fish each in a 1 gallon bowl. I change their water and put the waste directly under my corn.
My corn gets a good burst of energy just from 2 little fish who poop lots. 👍😉❤

I just bought a bottle of this and figured I should educate myself on using it. Came straight to YouTube and found you and now I feel armed and ready! :) I had a horrible time this spring with my lettuce seedlings... none of them grew taller than two inches... so I'm going to start over with heat-tolerant varieties since it's almost summer. And I'll be sure to use this and only 1 TBSP per gallon. I'm going to subscribe for more gardening tips. Thanks!

LOL, I feel badly when I pull up seedlings/pups/babies too. I have been known to dig thru the trash or compost racked with guilt to replant with many apologies said.

Very good information. I took notes before using it. I received 2 peace lilies from my dads funeral I want to make sure they survive. Also trying to save a Bromeliad I may have sun burnt

I been using that stuff since the 70s. But they make a kelp, fish, molasses product that is even better than that.
And if you add some humic to that your plants go nuts.

My Zucchinis leaves are like huge huge huge and I have over 12 or more zuchnnis growing in just 1 month or 2 of planting them. I used this on my garden and yes its very very good stuff. I also use it on the Grapes 1 in 1 month or every 2 months. Avocados love this stuff too.

I've been using a combination of Fish/Seaweed fertilizer and Worm Tea on my lawn and flower and shrubbery gardens.

A little tip, molasses helps the root system to pick up nutrients in the soil and prevent burning the roots . I use shredded alfalfa and molasses that i get in 70 lb bags from the local feed store for 20 dollars, it is normally fed to farm animals with dental problems . I cover the soil about 1 inch depth and this also helps retain moisture and protects surface roots from dying, it also breaks down and adds more nitrogen to the soil . My tomato plants were 13 feet tall last year going for 15 feet this year .

I use a combination of stuff on mine, including this. I also use this stuff called root ruckus. Which is humic acid, kelp, and myco. Then, I use the alaska fish fert company's bloom booster on anything that is a heavy fruiting plant. For my lettuce I use fish and guano at a low dose.

I like your idea of putting the fish emulsion in first, it does seem to mix better that way. Its the way I do it every time I use now, didnt before.
