Monkey-pox is an infectious viral disease that can occur in humans and some other animals. Symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash.
It may spread from infected animals by handling infected meat or via bites or scratches. Human-to-human transmission can also occur.

There are mainly two variations of this virus, affecting the Human Beings.
a. Congo Basin, which is more severe.
b. Western African Type, which is less severe.

Monkey-Pox or its Outbreak, none are new to us.
a. During 2003 U.S. outbreak, 71 cases of monkey-pox were reported. No Death was reported.
b. During 2017–2019 Nigeria outbreak, 558 cases were confirmed, of which, 8 deaths were reported.

The first cases in humans were found in 1970, in CONGO. In 2022, the first case of Monkey-pox, outside Africa, was found in United Kingdom.

There is no known cure. A study in 1988 found that the smallpox vaccine was around 85% protective in preventing infection.

Awareness is one of the key weapons against any viral diseases. So, when you have an unexplained rash, please seek medical care immediately .
