4 ½ Chef Hacks! | Sorted Food

Mini-fridge left the studio again this week and ended up in Ben's kitchen at home... where Ben shared his tips with Mike. How to save time in the kitchen, avoid wastage and pimp up the most basic of dishes.

Another use for coffee cubes is in iced coffee, so it doesn't water it down as the cubes melt!
And one of my favorite tricks is for heavy cream or buttermilk, or anything that comes in a carton with a fold-open spout.  When it's empty, lay it on its side with the closed spout facing down for a moment and then you can tip out an extra little bit.  It may not seem like a lot, but it adds up over time!

Two other possible waste-avoidance hacks for those who drink coffee. If you're somewhere they have one of those machines that makes individual servings of coffee using those little plastic cups, keep the cup -- they're great for absorbing odors in the fridge. Also, coffee grounds (not in the little cups) are good for raising mushrooms. They even sell kits for raising oyster mushrooms in a bed of coffee grounds.

You aren't actually supposed to give ducks bread because it is hard in their stomach. I recommend apples. just cut them into little cubes and they just live them

I discovered SORTED a few weeks ago in FoodTube. Naturally I've spent all my free time since then watching (in reverse chronological order) all of 700+ videos that you have up on YouTube, and I have a few comments:

1. You guys have come such a long way! I can tell because your kitchen is fancier and you don't use too many shortcuts anymore (imagine my shock when Ben used store-bought gnocchi, and didn't even explain what they were properly...this may have been from 4 years ago)

2. As time passed, you guys have been more and more mean to Ben. Why?

never thought of the frozen lime hack before! one of my favourite hacks is freezing leftover tea and putting it into ice tea, as well as freezing different fruit juices for super fruity, not-diluted-by-water juice :D
