it seems kinda dumb to me just like the rest of the entire show. What is the point of concentric rings roatating and then the whole ship doing a flip on a completely different axis? The shear forces must be insane. It completely breaks internal logic (we never see a ship with the ability to accelerate nearly this fast without the aid of warp) and it also destroys trek's continuity.

Also, that be the flying pancake that would turn the crew into mashed potatoes if inertia was ever a thing in S.T.D. Unfortunately (perhaps expectedly) nothing makes any sort of sense in Discovery because plot device and retcon and tons of hyper advanced technologies that you don't even hear being mentioned in the lore later down the line (chronologically speaking).
Nothing is ever mentioned about anything remotely resembling a spore drive in Star Trek 2009 or Into Darkness or Beyond. Because it didn't exist in the lore prior to S.T.D. But that's enough ranting for today.
