The difference is pretty big actually.
Female elves have long pointed ears, extremely long often fair hair, very delicate features and big eyes.
Males on the other hand are stout packed little men that are 70% muscle, 50% hammer and 35% beard. They love their big beard almost as much as the females love their hair.
Another difference is that the females live in the crown of giant trees where the males lives under their roots. They don't live together actually but meet occasionally in private. If the female gives birth to a boy she leaves him with his father otherwise she keeps her for herself.
